Hi, iv got a 2003 touring, I noticed sometimes if I'm cruising and decide to drop down into second gear my car won't go if I step on the gas. I turn my vdc off when I do. Say I need to pass a car and I'm going 40 a drop it into second the car won't accelerate. It will just stay put at the same rpms. It doesn't do this all the time but does some times. Anyone ever had this happen? Thanks

 

Is the Slip light blinking when you do that?

It sounds like you are downshifting and releasing the clutch quickly and because of a mis-match in engine RPM and clutch RPM it is causing the rear wheels to lock/stop for an instant. That can cause TCS/VDC to kick in.

 

You give me little information to work with.

Manual transmission?
Tire size?
Original clutch? How many miles?

 

6 speed ,stock clutch, 89,000 miles ,275's 45 on rear and 255 45 on front.

 

It doesn't blink, could it be from releasing clutch to fast?

 

If you let off the gas and press in the clutch your RPMs naturally drop. If you shift to a lower gear the engine RPMs need to be higher than before to maintain the same speed. If you let the clutch out fast, the engine "brakes" the rear wheels because of the mis-match in RPMs. If you do it fast enough, in some conditions that can trigger TCS/VDC to kick in.
