Default valve adjustment 2004 350z

I am in need i BELIEVE of a valve adjustment. Symptoms are loud ticking which appear faster with engine speed. Car overall is driving normal though.

I need two things.

How much is this going to cost me estimated? (NOT By the dealer)

Any good places in DC or Maryland???? Virginia??

Upper end tick is normal in the z cars (especially early model). As far as I know, you cannot do valve adjustments because it's a hydraulic system. There's a tech in my dealership that's done several of these. I'll ask him on tuesday what his usual fix is.

My tick has been there for over a year but seems to be getting a little louder and its a knock now. It still drives great. But the other day when I started it up a little white smoke came out the back.

If you could ask your repair man about this issue and ask him a estimated price. I dont have a major credit card, so I am using cash so I need to know what I need going into the shop..

Sorry, it's been really busy this week. He said the most common thing that'll play out similar to your situation are the lifters sticking. He did however highly suggest that you get it diagnosed by a professional before just attempting to fix something, because it can be a number of different things.

My car has had this tick since I bought it 2007, Nissan tech said it was normal and that a valve adjustment could not be done, I left it at that as I always keep the oil topped off anyways.

The system isn't hydraulic. An adjustment can be done.
