Question HOw to properly clean the TB and Mass Airflow Sensor

What "wires" in the MAF am I not supposed to touch? I saw what looked like little diodes inside it from the front of the Z tube. Is it those wires?

Does it need to be removed or can I just use the CRC MAF Cleaner and hit the right spots? What areas should be cleaned

Finally, what is the proper method for cleaning the Throttle Body?

Thanks! Tyring to get a few free horsepower, lol. My car has 90K on it and I've never done this. I also have a popcharger so I'm concerned it may be gummed up.

Just dont touch the wire, and dont blast it from super close. Spray it from ar enough that it falls on it. Since our cars have elec TB's and not cables youll need someone to open the throttle from the inside to clean inside a bit. No need to spray a ton. Let it sit a bit and dry, then start her up. It will be hard to start probly at first. Just hit the gas.

I searched Google and it brought me to that thread. Didn't show up when I searched here though. That one is for the MAF. I cleaned mine and the car feels MUCH snappier and smoother about 3K-4K RPM. I'm doing the TB tomorrow. Thanks Ron...

For the MAF, just spray the cleaning solvent directly into the "hole" where there's that "wire." The directions are also on the can. Once sprayed liberally, let it air dry (but I'd let the solvent drip out first as you're spraying to get the gunk out of there).

As for the TB, just take off your intake tube and use the TB cleaner and a shop towel to wipe off all the crap that's on it. You're ok with opening the butterfly and cleaning the tube side and the plenum side. For the most part, you shouldn't have to recalibrate the TB, but if the idle is off then you'd want to recalibrate.

Definitely not 1200, except for a cold start. 750 is about average, mine will fluctuate between 600-750 when warmed.

+1

Regular idle should be 7-800.
