help with manual tranny fluid
Hey guys I have been procrastinating changing my tranny fluid since I installed my jwt clutch flywheel. after the install I grind a little if I throw it into 5th quickly ( only if shifting agressivelly, if I put in slow no grinding)
so 1st route is changing the fluid that has to get changed anyway...
so my question is what fluid
redline MT-85?? (I am going to try redline just not sure if it has to be blended)
i feel like I remember reading a while ago that I mixture of MT-85 and 90 should be used not just MT-85?
also you guys think I should change my diff oil also? 37k not beat on at all
thanks

Redline MT85 is for our transmissions, no blending needed. Before MT85 was available people were blending MT80 and MT90, which is probably what MT85 is basically.
I use MT85, there was a good improvement in the 1-2 shift clunk feeling. cant say much about grinding, haven't had problems with that.
Also its always a good idea to remove the fill plug before the drain plug...

Manual states that the capacity is 3.1 quarts, but I only bought 3 qts. after draining it, it was right up to the fill hole with 3 quarts, maybe a little below. I could stick my finger in and feel the level right up there, so you should be fine with 3 too.
Its not night and day, but i think it made a noticable difference shifting right after I changed the fluid over.

cool thanks again guys, I actually found 1 shop near me that carries redline and royal purple so I can grab it there and get it done today
guess its up to me to pick unless anyone has anything bad to say about either.
and just to clarify one more time
I need 3.1qts for the tranny and a little under 2 for the diff so could I just get 3redline or royal purple 85w90(thats MT-85 right?) and 2 75w90 for the diff and use the left over 75w90 in the tranny since its only like .1 qts

actually just read a post of 2 people having problems with redline maybe ill just go with royal purple.
what is the weight of that... i see different things saying 75w90 and 75w85 and 85w90 which is what i need
im going off the post from tw8715 the links said 75w90 for tranny and 80w90 from the diff so when I go to the shop I know what im talking about if Im not just getting redline MT85 lol

I would not advise mixing the two. While it *may* not harm anything, it will at least provide peace of mind that you did it right. As far as which weights to use, check FSM or owner's manual imo. I use MT85 in my tranny and Carbonetic LSD oil in my diff.

OP, just get the MT-85, and you'll be fine.

What's wrong with Redline? I'm just curious, why you say never use it, cuz I've been using it for over 4 years now.
I think he is just saying he hasn't run (used redline)lol
Mixing the two will not harm anything. Redline recommended mixing MTL and MT-90, prior to them developing the MT-85 gear oil.
OP, just get the MT-85, and you'll be fine.
