I just put the berks on for about 50 miles then bam! P0056. On top of that the car temp gauge shoot up to about 1/4 of the way to hot and there was.smoke coming from the driver side hfc. Smells like someone is welding something.

Any ideas?

 

That sounds like the cat is clogged or something else is blocking the flow. P0056 is for Bank2 which is the drivers side. Pull it and double check to make sure nothing is obstructing flow.

 

Coolant temperature is not related to catalytic converter.
Smoke is not related to catalytic converter.
