Default 350z Bog and Hesitation 3rd Gear

Hey guys this is my first post on this awesome website. I have a 2006 350z Touring with every option 6MT. As it stands right now I thought I needed a new clutch because of RPM jump when really pushing the car hard. I took some advise I heard on here and put my car in 6th at low speed and punched it and got no slip at all. A few days after that I noticed that the pedal was getting stuck and traced it to the Master Cylinder which is going to be replaced shortly. I will report back if this fixes the slip issue being that the clutch may not have been fully engaging.

However, that is not the reason for this post. When I am in 3rd gear driving the car hard at around 3500 RPM the car hesitates and the exhaust even has a bog type of sound sort of like the rev limiter. If you keep on it it just bogs for a half a sec and then will continue to accelerate hard. It always happens at the exact same RPM and only when I am on the throttle hard. I was thinking

1) MAF Sensor

2) Plugs + Wires

3) Heard somewhere ECM.

Traction control is not the issue either even though it is always on since I tried it without it on and still the same result....

Any ideas?

what size are your tires? Does this happen at 3500 rpm in 3rd gear going arouind a corner or a straight line.
Your engine doesnt know youre in third gear, it just knows rpm, etc. Youre ECu opn the ohterhand does...... Sounds like a VDC issue .. do you get lights on the dash like slip etc.. CEL etc when it happens?

Hows the idle? rough? maybe a vacuum leak?

Just some food for thought, but it sounds like a VDC issue.. even when its turned off, its still kind of ON...

also.. we have no plug wires. coils bolt to each plug.

actually i take that back man. i re read your post.. you say it happens at the ame exact rpm.. this makes me think its the throttle position sensor, motor, or the throttle body.

Start with googling technsqure ecu reset 350z and do the full ecu and throttle position and idle re learn.... you MUST use a stop watch or it will not work.. couting one one thousand etc.. doesnt work well.

then re post here.

Some Great info guys thank you for the responses. I will try all of that today and I will report back on whether or not it fixed the issue along with some pics of my baby. Also, just as a side note the bog that im talking about is very slight its not very heavy at all its just a little annoying.

Update.... For the life of me I cant seem to get the ECU to reset, I dont even get the blinking light while using a stop watch..... I am getting the Clutch Master Cylinder replaced and hopefully that will stop some of the slip that I have been experiencing in higher gears which is what mechanic said.... if that does not fix the problem im just going to start saving for the JWT clutch+flywheel combo

I don't think the ECU knows what gear your in... but it does know whether your in gear or not.

Probably just time for a good tuneup. Have it done while you swap the clutch.

I think I figured out the issue. It turns out that my car was manufactured in Jan of 2006. I noticed last night that my oil was COMPLETELY empty which means I got one of the 350z that has the oil burning issue. The 2006 rev up m/t. I just bought my car and it is just barely out of warranty. I am fighting with the dealership to have Nissan replace the engine since they admitted that these cars had that issue and they were replacing them under warranty. If they do not I guess I will have to sue the dealer that I bought the car from under the lemon law since the engine is faulty......

Any advise is greatly appericated.
