Suggestions for a new clutch and flywheel
So my tyranny is going out and my slave clutch cylinder is going out. Since I have to pay to get my transmission taken out I might as well replace my stock parts. Any suggestions on which clutch and flywheel setup I should go with. My engine is stock so I don't need anything extreme. I'm not looking to spend an arm and a leg for new parts so price is important

Im satisfied with my JWT Clutch and Flywheel. My 07 Z is otherwise stock. Get the package that comes with a SS clutch line and Nismo pilot bearing. $775 plus FREE shipping. Can't beat that bro.

for a 2008, there are unique concerns in that the slave cylinder is a known issue. Some, though not all, aftermarket clutches didn't prepare the pressure plates as they should have, and those cause ever earlier failure of the slave due to how the bearing interacts with the plate.
research carefully IMHO - the JWT is great for the earlier 2003-2006 cars, it wouldn't be my personal choice for the 2007 + cars however (we sell em, just not what Id personally pick unless you also upgrade the slave)

well, the reason the OEM is so expensive is because of the flywheel. Dual mass design = high cost.
you could easily do just the clutch leave the flywheel alone and be done with it.
The 2 best units I have used to date on the HR, short of the exotic twin/triple disks, has been the Exedy and ACT. Exedy is only packaged together with their flywheel, so it's not cheap, but it's a great setup. The ACT has also worked very well for our customers on the HR. The JWT I've had mixed success with. About 50/50 proposition of people having the slave go bad, vs not having any issues with it. I am not intimately familiar with the slave recall, you may want to ask your service advisor (or better yet, Nissan directly), if it's an upgrade, or just another version of what was in the car originally. If it's an upgrade, then a JWT setup may work fine. If not, then I'd go to one of the other units. The way the bearing contacts the pressure plate is the issue on some of these aftermarket clutches on the HR.
