Default blown headgasket?

i just replaced my engine and it starts up fine but now the car is overheating very quickly and seems like it is misfiring barely. i have cipher and i did compression test it all seemed fine. The oil seemed like it was on the l side when it was overheating so dont know what to think about that. i did flush coolant and all air bubbles! what to do?

not going to lie, it sounds like you still have an air bubble in there or you need a new thermostat if you didn't replace the one in the swapped engine.

try a leak down test to confirm the head gasket. Check everything else before going for the head gasket.

heres a quick try. Take out the thermostat and cut off the spring and put the hollow housing back into your car. Fill up with 50/50 coolant/water. Drive around and keep an eye on the temp. If it doesn't overheat congrats it's your thermostat and air bubbles. Go buy an OEM one for $30 and bleed the coolant properly.

Definitely keep an eye out for white smoke coming out of your exhaust! That is a definite sign of a blown head gasket (coolant gets into the motor and the white smoke burns out the exhaust) and can cause catastrophic engine failure (it happened to me in my V6 Camaro).

Good luck, OP!
