Default blown headgasket?

i just replaced my engine and it starts up fine but now the car is overheating very quickly and seems like it is misfiring barely. i have cipher and i did compression test it all seemed fine. The oil seemed like it was on the l side when it was overheating so dont know what to think about that. i did flush coolant and all air bubbles! what to do?

not going to lie, it sounds like you still have an air bubble in there or you need a new thermostat if you didn't replace the one in the swapped engine.

try a leak down test to confirm the head gasket. Check everything else before going for the head gasket.

heres a quick try. Take out the thermostat and cut off the spring and put the hollow housing back into your car. Fill up with 50/50 coolant/water. Drive around and keep an eye on the temp. If it doesn't overheat congrats it's your thermostat and air bubbles. Go buy an OEM one for $30 and bleed the coolant properly.

Definitely keep an eye out for white smoke coming out of your exhaust! That is a definite sign of a blown head gasket (coolant gets into the motor and the white smoke burns out the exhaust) and can cause catastrophic engine failure (it happened to me in my V6 Camaro).
