Default 90,000 miles on the same filter

So i was just checkin all my fluids today and i looked at the filter (i got the car maybe 3 weeks ago) and i noticed that the filter was black. Upon further inspection i saw that there were holes and cracks in it. You could scrape the dirt out if the folds! I was curious as to the brand of it and it was OEM nissan! That filter has 90,000 miles on it! Who would neglect a Z like that?? Needless to say, I replaced it and i could swear i gained a good 5 hp.
Here are some pics..

something so inexpensive to replace....shows a lot of neglect.

Wonder how the oil looks? Transmission fluid? Diff fluid? Coolant....

Original filter looks like shiit. Terribly restrictive. ECU is adjusting air:fuel ratio to compensate for blocked filter. New filter may get you 5 horsepower.

All the fluids checked out. The oil was very black..i changed it the same day i got it. And i guess they could have replaced it with an oem one but this thing was in such bad condition, i doubt it. every time you touched it it would crack.

Might have nothing to do with the filter change. Did you check for gas leak?

Apparently you didn't have the car inspected before buying. Now that you know it was neglected you ought to get it done now. You might be able to head off serious problems that could occur in the future

Me thinks this is also the truFF. It's not like the stealerships don't replace filters when servicing our cars.

Takin it in this next week! and I mistyped. Its not a gas smell.. i dont know what it is but it wasnt like that before the change. Maybe just temporary b/c of the great change in airflow?

dude, id be very scared, sounds like a female previous owner ( yes im jaded) , 90k miles, i bet the oil never got changed at the proper intervals either as mentioned.. i would certainly be very ...very.... upset w my purchase. But id also never buy a used car w out checking the fluids and testing it overnight w cardboard under it for leaks etc. .
