Default Thermostat not opening?!?

So I just replaced the head gaskets on my z and now it seems like the thermostat just won't open up. The temp goes up but the radiator cap and lower radiator hose are cool to the touch. Coolant level is good, bled all the air out to the best of my ability. Anyone have any tricks or ideas?

P.s. It's a brand new thermostat.

Maybe it is a brand new defective thermostat. You might try taking it out and placing it in a pot of water on the stove. Heat the water to boiling and see if the thermostat opens. If it doesn't, it is defective.

Yeah I read that in the factory service manual. I think I'll try that, and no thanks on the thermostat, they're $15 from Nissan new or $70 for a Nismo thermostat.
