Default Had a problem with accelerating:

07 Nismo

Had a pretty close call tonight... I was waiting to make a left turn and saw a small opening that I could make it through. I put it in first started rolling, and when I was clear I floored it. But the RPMs barely went up and I went no where for about 2 seconds sitting in oncoming traffic with the pedal to the floor. Then all of a sudden it kicked in and I spun tires and it went normally. I've noticed it hasn't been accelerating very smooth from ~1200-2500 RPMs; kind of uneven acceleration sometimes in that area.

I had AAM tune my car a couple months ago. That's when I started noticing it. So I thought maybe the tune was bad, and they re-tuned it for me and said it all looked good with the tune.

Has anyone experienced this before? Any ideas?

I'd take it back and have them make sure all the vacuum lines are properly attached and to check all electrical connections.

Should I take it back to them, or can I take it to anyone? To be honest I was not happy with their work... I had some exhaust work done etc etc.. It was all just kind of a mess.

It's always good to get a second opinion from another shop. Good luck finding a reputable mechanic that knows what to look for in the Z.

No sarcasm. I was being serious with the first statement. Also, I truly wish you luck in finding a good mechanic that knows what they're doing with these VQ engines.

Maybe I'll ask around in the Mid-A section to see if anyone around here knows any good mechanics.

And thanks for the luck... I'm gonna need it. This car has issues.

Don't a lot of HR car with tunes have stumble problems?

Could have also been TCS/VDC kicking in.

The VDC definitely doesn't do that. There shouldn't be lag if you're on the gas pedal.

This car is trouble. I'm just gonna take it to nissan and have em look over everything. Something in the rear end rattles, the suspension or something related squeeks often, the transmission clunks every now and then, clutch slips slightly, clutch pedal feels off and has a grinding feeling when moving it, same with the shifter, feels like it's slightly grinding against something when moving it around. i feel like this car's gonna end up being a money bucket unless warrenty will take car of anything, if the tune didnt void it.

Could be faulty TPS or MAF?? but most likely the tune due to the shops history i would guess.

Yeah I definitely need it tuned. I was gonna take it to R/T Tuning in Pennsylvania. Anyone have any experience with them?

Is this car your DD? If not, maybe you should take out the ECU and have it flashed by a reputable company.

Yeah, it's my DD for now. But I will not be driving it in the winter, maybe I could do it then. Gotta find a nice cheap beater truck for the winter. Let me know if you know of any :P
