Default Hanging wire mystery

Found this hanging down from rear crossmember under the car..right in front of the muffler. Looks like a ground strap of sorts. It was connected to cross member with one end loose. I just tied it up for now. Can anyone here identify what it is and where it may attatch? I don't have stock exhaust.

Object on far left is my flashlight.

Supposed to be attached to your exhaust... not sure what it is for besides a ground of some sort.

Yes. Ground wire for exhaust. Purpose is to eliminate static discharge that could ignite unburned fuel inside exhaust.

Really are you serious, hope thats a joke. The ground strap on the exhaust is there to keep the exhaust from rusting together.

That was the wire some shop "ripped" off when they put in the shitty first exhaust i had. Pissed me off so much. When I got my invidia, i made a new one from 8 gauge car audio wire, lol.

I replaced it with SS exhaust...so rust shouldn't be an issue?

Finally found a pic of it attatched to stock exhaust:

You can see it attatched to bolt at pipe connection to muffler.
