My reception in my Z is shittier then every other car I've been in. My 97 sentra is better and my brothers scion xA is light years better. I have an RDX antennae. I just listen to the exhaust or a CD.

WOW! I feel dumb. Such a simple fix and I didn't have radio for 3 months. (Since I bought my Z) The guy who installed the radio should feel dumb...Lol. Well, thank you very much to kornercarver for giving me the simple advice to fix my radio's reception!

For anyone else who had the same problem as I did, do what kornercarver said. Take your power antenna wire and connect it to your remote wire, (I'm pretty sure the remote wire was blue and white) and BAM you have reception! Thanks again kornercarver.

Make sure your power antenna wire is connected. I know it's a simple thing, but it fixed my shitty reception.

My stock Bose system radio sucks! I mean I live on Long Island and anyone knows 106.1 is a local station. You can get this station with a metal hanger but somehow the Z has static in certain spots. I tried both stock and shorty still the same nonsense. Was thinking maybe the amp for the antenna is bad.

I didn't even think about pics! (I'm going on memory here) The wire colors are:
Power antenna wire- solid blue
Remote wire- blue with white stripe

When you're checking out your wire situation, keep your radio on, grab those two wires, and touch them together. This is what I did and since the reception was clear, I just crimped the wires together and it was all good.

Sounds a lot like my problem. Just check out the wires. Lol that's really all I can tell ya. If that's not it, then I don't really know. Unless theres some point where your antenna wire isn't making a connection somewhere. (In between your radio and the antenna amplifier)

I did ran into the same issue with my pioneer install. Crutchfield guy said to connect both
my amp turn-on (2 amps) and my antenna lead to the blue/white from the pioneer harness. He said the 3 leads should still be fine without a relay. To confirm I called pioneer and the guy said the same. However, earlier the guy from Metra (bought my radio harness from them) insisted I use a relay if I am connecting 3 leads to the one blue/white line. Originally I left the antenna unconnected but now I am going to do what pioneer said without a relay and keep my fingers crossed.
Fact is I did read through lots of Audio project threads here and never came across the use of relays even though
a lot of guys have 2 or more amps
