newB Q: is $500 a reasonable quote for a 100k mi tuneup?
a local mechanic wants $500 to do whatever you need to do at 100k miles. Is that reasonable?
he normally charges me $10 for an oil change (i buy the oil/filter/etc). So on those types of things he's very reasonable, but Im not sure what all is required at 100k, besides changing the spark plugs/oil. Thanks
EDIT: The mechanic wants between 90-150 for labor on a tune up + spark plugs, so around 200 max for it.

Maintenance Schedule:
http://www.nissanextendedwarranty.co...schedules.html
100,000 Maintenance Schedule:
http://www.nissanextendedwarranty.co...81-months.html
According to their schedule, they replace your engine oil/filter, and inspect everything else (this chart assumes you've completed all your previous regular maintenance). There's nothing that needs to be done if there's nothing wrong. Last I checked, a local Nissan dealer charged a under $100 for a full check-up.
If anything, ask him what the $500 covers. If it's a simple inspection/oil change, it's not reasonable at all.

I have had the car for about 18 months. I bought it when there were 83,000 miles and I did not have any service records for it. So, I'm not sure what was done with it previously (the car has all oem stock parts).
Anyway, I spoke to a couple of people today who said its a 'good idea' to get a tune up done at 100k miles. I already got the oil changed, and I ordered the spark plugs (NGK- PLFR5A-11). So I believe I'll go ahead with the tune-up. Seeing as I know basically nothing about car maintenance and I dont have any service records, is there anything other pressing issue I should have the mechanic look at besides inspecting the various components the Nissan maintenance schedule says to look at for this mileage?
EDIT: also, when you all get your oil changed, do you use OEM genuine nissan oil filters? A search on ebay found these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nissan-Oil-F...2cfcde&vxp=mtr
its cheaper than the BOSCH oil filter I found at walmart which the walmart computer said matched my car, but if the nissan one is cheaper, should I just buy that?
