2003 350z randomly doesnt turn over usually on hot days
Usually when it gets hot out, my 350z will not start when I turn the key. I'll have to sit there for like 10 minutes and keep trying over and over for it to finally crank and start.
When I try to start it the lights on the dash go on, the radio goes on, my voltage meter says good battery, but the car doesn't start as if the battery is dead.
I'll change gears and keep playing with the clutch/throttle and after 5-10 minutes it finally sputters to life. Other times, the car turns on just fine. I went to my mechanic and he said my starter is fine, my battery is ok
But its not causing the problem. He said it might be the crank sensor but my engine light never went on and the car never died on me in
It always drives like a champ. I thought it could be my viper alarm but since
It happens often in the hot im not so
Sure any ideas? Thanks in advance

I have had this problem for 2 years. My '03 350z woud not start randomly. Start fine for a few weeks then all of the sudden won't start. I take key out of ignition, lock car, unlock car with the key in the door, then it will start. The Nissan dealer has had it several times and it always started with them, so they couldn't find anything wrong. FINALLY, this week, the Nissan dealer had it for 3 days and it finally acted up with them. They have determined that both of my keys have bad chips. Both keys were replaced along with the antenna (not radio) that is under the hood that communicates with the keys and tells the engine to start. I have always suspected it had something to do with my keys. When they key chip and antenna goes bad, the car thinks its being stolen and it shuts down the engine. That's why all the dash lights come on as usual and the battery voltage is fine, but it won't let the car start. Also while at Nissan this week, they fixed a recall with the fuel sending unit in the gas tank. If you haven't had that fixed yet, it's free!!
