Default P0335 Crank pos sensor circuit malfunction

Hi guys. I'm doing a bit of research for my dad who is out of town on business. My step mom's 2006 350z check engine light came on last weekend while I was driving it but the performance of the car did not change. When I got home I pulled the code and this is what I got. My research has only pulled up people's stories who have done some modification or something and the car will not start, or will run terribly roughly etc. Her car does not have this problem. She drove it to Charlotte airport and back (180 miles or so) since I drove it just around town last weekend and neither of us think it's running badly. Any clue what the problem might be? I find it very strange that every story I have read about this code has involved a (mostly) undrivable car and the car seems to run fine...any tips will be appreciated!

Luke

Buy a OEM crank sensor, replace it, reset the ecu by unhooking the negative terminal on the battery and pump the brakes a few times. Wait 15 mins. Rehook the battery, celebrate!

The sensors on these cars go out all the time so it;s no big deal.

No big deal you say? I like the sound of that. The car seems to drive fine...would you say it's okay to drive if she needs to drive it? I'm guessing it's guessing at timing off the cam position which is probably eating power and fuel...is that close?
