Question A/C & Engine Performance

So last week I bought my 350z (2005 Roadster touring)

First day home - car started to over heat - I immediately turned the A/C off turned the heater on full blast rolled the windows down (really sucked as it was 93 out side) anyways it cooled off and all was ok - on the way home I thought about what it might have been = A/C cooling fan on the radiator.

Dealer Replaced it.

Being that I didn't get a chance to have it on long I never got to tell how cold it was and how well did it work ect.

After they fixed the fan it ran with no issues however didn't really feel all that cold - so I checked the freon with a gauge at autozone and the guy and I confirmed it was low so we added a can. We then realized the gauge on the can was not working and inadvertently over filled the system (compressor would not stay on). We evacuated some off the low pressure side and everything seemed ok and air was blowing ICE COLD! However yesterday and the day before as I was stuck in traffic the A/C Compressor shut off and the engine seemed like it was kind of lagging.

I assume what happened is it was still over charged and started to freeze up.

I tried it at lunch today and it seems to work just fine cold and working well. I did evacuate some more of the freon and its still blowing ice cold = hoping this will fix it!

anyone have any thoughts on this? I plan to have it checked by Nissan and get a freon read from someone with a double hose system but just looking for thoughts or anyone else ever do this?

Also does anyone notice a huge power loss with there A/C being on? I read somewhere the nissan 350Z cars A/C Compressor takes 8-10hp to run ??

- Thanks in Advance!

You would have to do a dyno run with the AC ON and one with the AC OFF to get an accurate number. Then of course what RPM are we going to compare?
