Default 2003 Starting Problems

Well this is embarassing,

Last night i was sitting in my car with someone, gettin ready to roll out on a date.

its about to get good.

I go to turn my key over, clutch pressed in,and the car wouldnt start.

to make a long obvious story short, i checked this and that. volts good, connections are good, girl cancelled the date. (sweet)

but later on, after leaving her be, i had a fit of rage and pumped the clutch like 10 times, and turned it over. and voowala! it started. Ive had to do this today too. It seems if i pump it while turning over it works. of course i pump and turn multiple times before it finally works.

Check your clutch safety switch.

I agree with Vivid Racing. The clutch safety switch connects with the clutch pedal assembly arm. It's just an on/off type switch. Since banging on the clutch got it to work again, that would make it a probable failure point. You can probe it with a multimeter to see if it's bad. If it is, swap it out. They're not that expensive. Here's a link to one on ebay, but you can just get it from a local dealership parts counter.

Track has the same motor as all the other trim lines. And the OP was kind of shy on details - these posts on "car won't start" seem to never indicate if the motor is turning over and just won't start, or if you turn the key and get absolutely nothing. If getting nothing then could be that clutch switch, if the motor does turn over then could be a sensor, or multiple other things. The devil is in the details folks!
