Default My car got hailed on...

So last night there was a pretty serious hail storm here in Dallas that managed to ding my car up pretty good. I'm scheduled to have some estimates done over the weekend, but my question is this: anybody have experience getting this fixed? Was it paintless and is there a difference? Did it come out looking OK? Thanks for your feedback.

That sucks. I saw it on the news and good luck. I remember back when I was in GA and it had a terrible hailstorm there one year and luckily we got three cars back in the garage, but one that was left outside was dinged pretty bad. The insurance wanted to total the car for it, but it wasn't worth it imho.

I've seen and heard of similar damage done to cars before and it was pretty bad... On one of the other forums I browse insurance actually totaled the car! Either way, good luck!

Man,bummer...
I've seen hail damage on cars.
Getting a car fixed "properly" depends on how particular you are/
Of course, the extent of the damage.
If I knew the car would not come back perfect after the fix,I'd
try to get it totaled. It would drive me nuts to see the dimples
all over the car.

My wife's Maxima got dinged moderately once last year. The shop quoted with repainting everything. But once my insurance came to look at it, they decided it could be done with paint-less dent removal. It came out really good. The shop had a third party company in town at the time. It's something they do everyday. We just had to pay our deductible, that's it.

The only thing was when I went to pick it up, I noticed my left blinker was blinking fast. They forgot to plug the bulb back in . Just make sure you check everything since they tear out any interior panels to get to the dings.

Its covered under insurance so we'll see what ends up happening but I highly doubt they decide to total. Thanks for the feedback guys.

my good friend Todd does PDR all over the world.. he states he can repair it absolutley flat w no painting.. perfect. Guy makes a killing, prob half a mill a year all by himself doing this.. pays to be in w insurance guys i guess.

anyways OP, go get a quote.. and ask up front if they deal w a PDR guy frequently, and talk to him aside as well.

oh, painteless dent repair... my bad.

I don't like the idea of the "paintless dent repair". Maybe its because I grew up around body shops. Even though they claim they can, I don't think it will be perfectly flat. Maybe good enough for a daily driver, but not if it's your weekend or show car.

I always try to get my cars totaled. Insurance will always pay more than what you can get from selling it.

PDR works perfectly in most cases. If it doesn't, then they will pay to paint it afterwards or total it.

My Z recently got hail damage in april. Insurance wanted to completely replace the roof and PDR the rest of the car. They gave me 4,500 and me and my cousin just went ahead and did all the body work and did a color change while we were at it. Spent 2 grand and the car looks AMAZING!! p.s. I have 7 years experience and my cousin has 20 so we know what we're doing.

The Damage......

The finished product. Car is Pearl White code QAC from a 2011-2012 Sentra
