Default need help key won't turn in ignition

today randomly my key just stopped working I tried all day to try and get it to work but nothing works. When I started the wheel would turn but it got stuck at all the way to the right and wont move much anymore. I called AAA but they said all they can do is tow it. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Sounds like your steering wheel is turned too much relative to the front wheels. Put the car in neutral, push the car either forward or backward for a foot or so. That should free the wheel enough for you to turn the key.

If you can't get out of Park, try jack up the front end to allow the front tires to catch up with the steering. You need both wheels off the ground.

Is there an easier way? I don't have the tools for that.

If you (or a friend/neighbor) don't have access to a jack and you really can't fix the problem, you may need to get AAA to tow you to a mechanic.

I called AAA earlier today I was really hoping a locksmith would be all I need but they wanted to tow me. Is getting towed the only way to do this?

Just rock the steering wheel as much as you can each direction while trying to turn the key. If it's locked it'll come free eventually.

This may sound stupid, but it worked for me on another car. Turn the wheel as hard as you can to the right while turning the key. Get a friend to help if needed. What do you have to lose?
