Default Code P0138 - o2 sensor bad?

Well the past few weeks I've been working on getting my Z back to stock and ready to sell. I've just about finished everything and this check engine light has been one of the last things that i wanted to focus on. It's code P0138 which is apparently due to the oxygen sensor.

Tomorrow I am taking off my test pipes and putting my OEM cats back on. Will that fix the problem or will the o2 sensor need to be replaced because the test pipes ruined them?

Unless you trick the plugs, you would probably always have that CEL with your TP's. Put the cats back on and then the plugs to see if you still get the CEL because if you do they might have fouled.

Yeah, your oxygen sensor is testing to see if the catalytic converter is working. If you have test pipes, then it thinks your catalytic converter is doing nothing, which is true because it's not even on your car...lol

First put the stock cats back on. If the CEL comes back, then replace the sensor.

well yeah i thought he was saying if I put the cats back on AND replace the sensor that I'd have the cel.

now another question. Bank 1 Sensor 2. that is the one in the cat right? bank 1 - passenger side.. sensor 2 - in the cat.. if i remember correctly?

Yes, that is correct... An exhaust leak between your front and rear o2 sensors can also cause that code
