PLEASE HELP CODES INSIDE, safe mode
I need some help , My z is acting up so bad lately. Its throwing these codes.
P0340-Camshaft position sensor circut malfunction
******
P0345-camshaft position sensor "A" circut Bank 2
******
P0037- HO2S Heater control circut low Bank 1 Sensor 2
******
P0011-Intake camshaft Postion timing over advanced or system performance
bank 1.
******
P0021-Intake camshaft position timing over advanced or system performance
Bank @
SOOOO Thats what the ciper program is reading. the car idles fine, starts ok, but yesterday it started doing it and when i shut the car off the slip light and all would reset and it would go back to being normal quick.. then as the day went on it got worse until it wouldnt go away. and was stuck in safe mode completely weather the lights were on or not.
Ive reset the ECU,
-did all the relearning.
I am going to do some research but its just a lot going on here. Also the car has been in a sluggish mode for a week I have been trying t figure it out and Iguess driving it made things worse, but the strange thing is it got very smooth and fast for 2 days, felt grea like when i first tuned. and now its FFUUC*ED
car is fully built top to bottom. 14k on motor. could it be clutch? im having issues there
any help would be great !

P0011 will cause the engine to go into Fail-Safe mode. A bad camshaft sensor will cause it to go bad as will crankshaft sensor and debris on the camshaft itself. I'd start with replacing the camshaft sensor at Bank 2 (drivers side). It's possible the Intake Valve Timing Control Solenoid has gone bad however considering the codes thrown and history of cam sensors going bad I'd start there. P0037 Heater also pulls information from the camshaft sensor.
Camshaft sensors are a pretty popular thing to go bad. My Nissan dealer has them underneath the parts counter. I've had the camshaft and crank sensors replaced.

from what ive been reading i went and bought a bank 1 camshaft position sensor from napa.. i put it in and the car wont start at all.. i put the old one in it starts and goes into safe mode. I bring it back get another one and double check its correct.. i hook the 2nd new one up and car wont start.. put in old.. car starts with safe mode... i will return it tomorrow and get a bank 2 sensor to see if this works. what a pain in the *** tho.
this program should tell me whats wrong. not tell me 5 things that might be kinda wrong maybe could be this that or another blahhhh

Ok, so i returned the sensor from bank 1. I purchases a bank 2 cam sensor.... The car will not start wheb i change any of the sensors!!!!! Wtf so bottom line is i hae a bad cam sensor. And replacing them causes no start . But puting the old ones in cause smooth start an limp mode.. Seriously ready to set the car on fire. Regardless of if its actually those sensors this makes no sense at all. also had a spare crank sen i never used and that did nothing .

wellll I went to napa for the first 2 sensors, then i went to auto zone for the third, I understand that nissan parts may be better butI highly doubt those sensors dont work at all. And now with the new sensor installed the car will actually start if i unplug the new one. still in safe mode and obiously same codes but how wierd? well I guess i will return this sensor tomorrow and go to nissan just to see .. ive used npa stuff befor onthis car and it always works ok.
oh and just dd all the reset procedures. i couldnt make it through the last one because it requiers the car to actually start at the end...
also because it was over due. I changed the oil, and new spark plugs which were bad. cleaned the intake plenium, and TB and left he battery off all day.

ok, so I got a nissan bank 2 cam sensor. And the car fired right up. so as said above those napa/autozone sensors wont even allow the car to start. Bad news is the car is still not working so i wasted the money. Its main code is still showing p0340 camshaft position sensor circut malfunction.. whats next ? anyone?
Try resetting ecu again..i haven't heard of that code being caused by anything else. It's a fairly known issue at least on the g35 forums to not use anything other than oem with the cam and crank sensors. No pinched wiring?

I am going to buy the connectors for both cam sensors because When i had my Motor built they must have broke the clips on both sensors taking them off !!! And seriously used silicone to hold them on! So now i see that when i slide them on they slide back off a tad... pretty mad at the shop for not telling me... I hope that works..

also i'd like to add that i am hooked up to cipher and i start the car clear the codes and its starting ok and idles and it only goes into safe mode when i rev it up. thevery second i give it gas it climbs and cuts out. and all the lights come on. not sure if that changes anything. just thought it was weird that it can idle ok and i let it rn for 15 min and no codes as long as your not on the pedal.
Your welcome, that's from ALLDATA. Costs $125 a month for access to almost OEM diagnostics service data for most makes and models. The ECU is programmed to only trigger a code when it's pretty sure there is a problem. It sounds like at idle everything seems ok to it, when you press the throttle request pedal it notices data out of range and triggers code. That's where the diagnostics come in, if everything is ok at idle we need to look at the datastream while throttle pedal is depressed and watch for the sensor reading that doesn't fit. ALLDATA has the specs and all those nice flowcharts, with a good scanner, DSO, power probe I can diagnose most problems as long as someone is willing to pay me the time. And almost no one is willing to. Damn idiot autozone and AAMCO free dianostics make people think you just have to read the code.

yeah im working on the clips now. I do have the full tuner uprev system so i can log data and all that on just about everything but let me see whats up with these plugs and Ill let you guys know!
ok i fixed the clips, and then realised that it says to replace both cam sensors if im getting both codes.. SO I went to nissan and got both sensors and they are in. no change. I also reset my ECU, did all the resets and learning procedures. no change. the car throws the same codes mainly. P0340 and p0345, then i get the p0021 p0011 codes again.
I also unplugged the timing sloidnoids in front of the motor 1 by 1 and they throw a code that there off so I dont think thats the issue.
Anyone wanna keep going with this? I really am screwed right now. money is tight just dropped 200$ on sensors i do not need. and im so lost. what a stupid system the car idles soooo normal and revs and sounds great 1 time after codes clear. no noises no hard start nothing. just this bull ****

It is not a stupid system, it just requires some skill to use it. A code is a starting point, it is silly to disregard some codes and throw parts at it
. The flowchart suggests that if the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors are ok to inspect the signal plate on the rear of the camshaft. So get some valve cover gaskets and pull the cover to inspect camshaft.

yeah im actually gonna just get rid of car cheaper then i was gonna sell it once i fix this. I have a motor that has under 15k and i put 7k into it . and it was built by a great engine shop and then put in . all new everything and its been nothingggggg but issues. and nobody can ever tell me why or what. and the issues seam to stump people . thins is a car that i drive to work and its fine wake up in the morning and its broke. sorry venting but its very true.
