Question ABS and speedometer not working

Hi everyone, I've searched and found some info on this but here is what's happening:

2006 350Z, 6MT, base model.

On the way to work today my ABS and Brake lights came on in the dash. I got to a stop light and noticed/heard a vibrating noise and when I shut the car off the ABS pump didn't stop running. I had to disconnect the battery so it wouldn't get drained.

I got home and checked the cables from the speed sensors in the front and back. I noticed something strange in the back. The rear diff was covered in some black oil-looking fluid but it's not from the diff because I have a catch can for that(used to track it). It also looks too dark(black) and it's too thin. I looked everywhere with a flash light and couldn't find where that fluid came from.

The speedometer is not working in either the analog or the digital display. How do I test the sensors and will the car throw an SES if one is bad? I disconnected the ABS pump for now but I'm wondering if it's all connected and speed sensor failed first and that caused the ABS pump to fail. Looks like I have two issues since I don't think a failed speed sensor would cause the pump to keep running after the car has been shut off.

Any input appreciated.

could be wrong but the fluid on the diff is more than likely your differential bushing....when they blow you will get the streak of what looks to be oil....cnt help you out with the speedometer problem though goodluck

One of the two wheel speed sensors does speed , if it goes out you will lose both abs and speed

vq35deZ, I think you are correct in that it's the Diff bushing. It was coming from there, just didn't know it has any fluid inside.

Terrasmak, Thanks for that info. My question is will a blown sensor cause the pump to stay on after the car is shut off? My other question is will a bad ABS pump cause the speedo to not function at all or do I indeed have a bad sensor in addition to the pump?

Thanks again.

Im not for sure on this, however i know my speedometer doesnt work either. nor do any of the electronic gagues. After lookiing around for...probably a good month and a half, i did find that any bad speed sensor would cause your gauges to not work. if im correct the only ones that do work on yours would be the gas, and temp? i havent had the chance to get a look at mine, i deployed right after the problem occured. I wil be home in a week so ill get to work on that immediately and let you know what worked.

UPDATE:

I replaced the ABS pump and problem solved. I was lucky to find the same part number I needed on ebay for $200 but from an 08' instead of an 06'. Since they have the same brakes it was the same part number.

I also received the SPL diff bushings so I'll be replacing those soon.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Ok here's my update on this situation. After chasing every symptom I could think of, ad after taki it to the dealer and having a full diagnostic performed (don't waste your money doing that. With the speedo not working, the car still threw codes just didn't have the check engine light on and they said the only thin I needed to do was buy a new speedo) I finally found the problem. For me, the problem was the AC module thing. Right behind the AC controls, if you pull the dash, there's a little grey box the cable is connected to. I replaced that ad everything worke perfect. Go.
