I have heard of the 03-04 having tranny problems and such but I ran into a problem in my new 08 I just bought about a week and a half ago. I was driving it in sport mode, tiptronic, whatever you wanna call it, with the TC off and as I tried to go from 2nd to 3rd, it simply would not shift up. I even tried putting it in drive and it wouldn't shift. I pulled over, restarted the car and all was good. I do realize the car shifts a little harder into 3rd gear and makes a little more noise than other gears while shifting. The car has roughly 62.5k miles on it. Any suggestions as to what it could have been? I do have a 2 year warrenty I bought with Nissan as well.

my 04 5at did that once in the three years i owned it. i was on the interstate, except i was downshifting from like 4th to 3rd and it locked up.. i put it in regular drive mode and it still wouldnt shift up for me. so pulled over, turned it off, started it back up and it was fine.. never happened again.

Thanks. I'm thinking it may just have been some freak error with maybe the computer brains of the car
