Default New to Me Z- What Service Do I Need?

Hi Everyone,

Just got a 2004.5 350Z Roadster (A/T), 72K ($10.5K purchase for those keeping track) and I want to know what I gotta do to keep my new toy running for years to come. I like to wrench on my own cars, so everything listed below I plan on doing myself, I just want to know in your opinion what I need to do and what I can wait on a little bit.

1. Grease the Axle... I got the clicking sound going. From what I've read this seems to just be cosmetic, but might as well fit it.

2. Transmission Oil Change

3. Differential Oil

4. Serpentine Belt

5. Fix the BOSE Subwoofer (It goes in and out)

Anything I miss? Any advice? Thanks!

I just got pretty much the exact same car and I'm going to change and bleed brake and clutch fluid. Both are dirty/old.

Check the belts. It wears out easily for some reason.
Check the tires,balance and align.
Lube all necessary parts.
Check the brake pads.

Default let me think...

If you have an owner's manual, open it and read up on the maintenance section.

If you don't, you can download it. Just search for it in Google.

Thanks for the tips guys.

I would refer to the user manual, but as I don't have the service history I it makes it difficult to refer the the service schedule ... I was looking for advice from other out there on what they have done on their Z with similar mileage.

I have already changed the oil (Mobile 1 Syn) but I will add brake fluid and engine coolant to the list.

Nice to have a car I look forward to working on again!

Regardless, it still gives you a guideline of what things to change/inspect. Everything that other members have mentioned will be mentioned in the owner's manual.

when you bought the car didn't you check or ask about the history fo where it came from? i think with any car you buy it's good to ask at least so you know what you're dealing with.

owner's manual and check what you should do. i know this may get a lot of negative but if you're still unsure, take it to the dealer. just ask what the cost is to check the whole car and have them list everything out so that you know what you may need or not. it can't hurt to know and from my experience with the nissan dealer by me, they don't ******** me on what needs to be done and they tell me. then if i choose to go somewhere else they don't give me a hard time about it and let me go about my business.

Im not trying to tell you what oil to use, but just saying Mobile 1 Syn isnt the best in VQs. Look in the maintance section and just browse through it

Default Thanks for the feedback

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I did have some of the previous records from the vehicle, but it was far from complete. I also took it to a Nissan dealership to get a full inspection, and the only thing that they mentioned needed to be done was the Belts.

That being said, I am all about preventative maintenance, and as a former VW guy I know that there are several gremlins (electrical mainly) that can be taken care of before they fail and cause more headaches.

I didn't even think to search around for information about which oil to put in, I usually just default to Mobile 1 on any motor with less than 100K (and then I go high mileage) but I will take a look before I make the next change.
