Default Z is grinding on 3rd and 4th gear when I power shift

hey,

so I bought my Z used, and when I bought it, the guy told me the 3rd and 4th gear grind when you power shift. I was wondering how would I go to fixing it. Many people have told me it was my tranny, and I need to replace it, others say it's my clutch, and or flywheel. any ideas?!

Why do you need to powershift? Powershifting is the worst thing for your clutch and tranny.

Thought powershifting was sans clutch. Its your tranny syncros going to crap.

Exactly, I don't even power shift on the race track. Smooth is the key.

I would have stayed away from a car who's owner admitted to powershiting and screwing up the syncros (grinding when power shifting) as a result of his powershifting. Hopefully you got a smokin deal.

Driving a car is like a dance, shifting prematurely (fast) is what kids do. You shift, let go of the clutch quick enough that it's before everything is in sync. Listen to all the track guys who posted, like scotts300 and terrasmak.

At highway speeds, push in the clutch and hold it down.

Shift from 3 to 4 to 5 to 6th. If it grinds between any gear, your synchros are shot.

Synchros are gone, best solution is a new tranny.

Rebuilding the current one is going to be too costly and I'm sure more synchros are worn then just the one you know.
