2004 350z RPMs and Burnt Smell
I just got my Z two months ago from a private party. The car looked and ran great but something caught my attention. I am new to driving a manual car so sorry if I sound stupid.
When I am trying really get speed, I shift at higher RPMs. But I noticed that my car gets really loud (as in telling me to shift) around 5000 rpm. I try to ignore it I still shift at about 5300. In the end when I bring the rpm back down it smells like burnt. I don't know if this is normal or am I going to have this checked out. Also should I just ignore how loud the engine is getting and keep accelerating to 6500 for more whp?
P.S. I have a nismo exhaust and an intake, maybe that is why the engine sounds so loud at higher rpms?

Look here Original Postman I was just having a little fun with your post. I'm not sure if your really that clueless but since its your first Z I'll give you a hand, I believe your clutch is toast and you should have it diagnosed . There's actually helpful hints online on how to be sure if its your clutch starting to sleep. You can try this... turn car on putthe EBrake up then move your shifter to second gear and try taking off! It car doesn't stall out in that instant then it might be something else. Hope this helped your concerned self.

Not EVERY time. I always shift around 3000 for better gas mileage, the only time I do want to hit 6500 is when some douche pulls up next to me trying to act hard, which in reality only happens about twice a week. I know you shift at higher rpms for more horsepower to the wheels so that's what I want.

Do you know how to read? The highest I have shifted is 5300. I always shift at 3000. There's a difference of not knowing how to drive manual and being new at it with not much experience. I've only had the car for 2 months and I don't drive like a dumbass, the clutch is probably gone due to the previous owner. I asked for help to see what is the burnt smell, if you are not trying to help me stop wasting my time and yours on my post.
