Default "Creaking" dash when cold

Anyone else experience this. When car interior is cold (winter) the dash creaks behind the wheel when I go over bumps in the road. Goes away when interior heats up. I am sure this is due to the material expanding and contracting, but it drives be loony.

Yes I have those creaks- just behind the instrument gauges to the left. Mine goes away when it warms up as well.
I've also got this really annoying creak in the hatch (I think). I think its on the drivers side but cant localize it. I've messed with every piece of plastic on the hatch and over the strut bar but I just can't get rid of it.

Mine does the same GD thing! I think there is a TSB out about this actually. Might have the dealer look it up next time I get my oil changed.

I had this rattle. Hard to get the dealer to fix it, because of course the car was warm by the time I got to the dealer and the rattle was gone. "Rattle? What Rattle?"

I fixed it by stuffing some strips of black felt down between the windshield and the dash. You can't see it at all, and the rattle has not come back for months (knock on wood).

Hope this helps

I've got the problem too. Detroit is cold, and will be cold for months. The creaking persists even after the car is warmed up. Maybe because it's so cold out that the car is still cold? I have tried pressing on every last part, and messing with the speed, engine speed, temp system, radio, you name it. I can't find anything that stops the noise! It's almost like it resonates from the vibrations from the road.

Hmmmm.

I have this too--- guess what mine was--- the damn windshield!!!! Yep - when it heats up its better, but when cold it rattles!
As your driving and hearing the rattles, put your hand on the windshield- if it stops there's your problem!-- Of course the only way to fix this is to re-do the windshield- therefore , I just await the fair weather again.......... not long now!!

Dr. Phil told a story about when he first bought his Z, he started hearing a creaking noise in the hatch. He made his wife lie down back there while he drive around so that she could listen to where it was coming from.

Default Passenger side of dash

It is terrible on a cool day here in So. Ca. If I push in on the lower part of the dash (right before the dash curves down to where a glove box would usually be ) the noise completely goes goes away while I am pushing on it.

Will the felt tip work for me?

Thanks,

Stu E.
