Default problem with engine - need input

Hey guys,

I just popped off my TB and plenum and i found liquid residue in near the mouth of the plenum (by the TB), and near the runners in the lower plenum. Is that common? The last time I pulled my plenum over the summer it wasn't there.

I also noticed that Nissan installed my TB gasket improperly. Could this be contributing to the problem? Thanks in advance for the help.

Dan

Its probably oil from the valvetrain vent. I'll have to go check under my hood but there should be a hose that could vent air from the under the valvecover to the intake. Oil can get through that hose and leak up the intake tube and into the throttle body. This is very common and very annoying for me too. The oil catch cans you see advertised take care of this problem.

Could you tell what the liquid was? Was it just clear water? Possibly condensation from moving the car from outside cold to inside (garage) warm? Just a thought.

The gold colored metal plate on top of the lower plenum is part of the PCV system. With any crankcase ventilation you will get some oil into the upper intake....mine did not have it when it was new but did after 5000 miles.
