Default 2009 N370 P0300- truly need a new engine

Oh guys, very new to this forum and Nissans 370z in general.

Purchased 09’ 370 with 51k miles 2 months ago fro son. Just this week check engine light comes on and after 5-10 minutes starts flashing. Called Nissan dealer and they said “do NOT drive”. Had it towed.

leanred today was throwing P0300 code and misfires in 1,3,5 cylinders. Their diagnosis. Is brand new engine and CATS.

floored to say the least. Not being a mechanic I don’t even know where to start. Should o get a second opinion, should I ask more specific questions as to what the dealership accomplished on the diag? If yes,, please share with me those questions.

should I leverage “boostin” his suggestions in this thread, ask the dealership to do so, spend the money on “testing” all scenarios or am I relegated to the new darn engine scenario?

please and thank you for any and all suggestions.
