350z won't start and brake pedal lock
Hello everyone,
Need help. Any kind of help and information will be appreciated.
My 350z (2004, Automatic) won't start.
Battery seems to be fine as all the lights and radio works good. Also I had it replaced less than 6 months ago.
This weekend morning i tried to start the car and it just wont.
Also found out that the floor brake is locked. I cannot push it down.
I have read about the pressure build under the brake line when car is not on but was not able to find anything to fix it.
It won't just start.
It would be great if someone can help me with this.
I cannot take it to shop as of now. ($ issue)
Please help.

Do you have a stock shift **** or did you convert to a aftermarket
such as a Momo?Can you move the shifter?Have you to start in neutral?
Your problem could be that the shifter is not engaging correctly and its
locking up the brake.You could try to pull up and/or,press down on the shift **** and see what happens.Also,the problem may be in your ignition lock.Try jiggling
the key in the lock.Or,do you have a spare key?Try another key.
Another option...your security system.It may be on preventing the car from starting.

Yes, I am able to move the shifter without any problem but i have not tried starting thecar in neutral. I will give a try today.
And i dont have a aftermarket shift ****.
Also tried with a spare key. no luck.
And as you said it could be the security system, is there a way to reset it or something?

I called my cousin and she tried to turn the car on in neutral and it worked.
The brake are free now and second time she was able to turn it on in Park too.
Told her to keep it on for a while and take it for a ride.
So it seems to be working as of now. Lets see how long.
Anyone has any idea why did that happen.???

in the shifter.Again,is it stock?If so,the side button is not engaging right.
Or,something is worn.Possibly you don't have the expertise to tackle?
The **** needs to be removed to see whats going on.The shift unit itself
is rather cheesy.If you get it apart(remove the ****)I'd lube all the moving parts with a good white lithium grease.This may help the engaging.
If the problem is in the shift area,check out a Momo conversion ****
kit.Has a top button and easy to adjust.Looks great too.Got one in my
Z.

It’s probably not fixed if there was a problem, or there never was a problem other than incorrectly starting the car.
One problem some people have when starting a car is the interlock system. It might be necessary to have the brake pedal depressed fully (whether in Park or Neutral) if you have an AT. If you have a MT, it might be necessary to have the clutch fully depressed when engaging the starter.
Triple A receives many calls from motorists claiming to be unable to start the car. Simply explaining the steps to take if you have an interlock on your cars solves most of these problems.
When you have the time, please provide a more thorough explanation of the problem’s solution. That helps us learn.
