Default 2008 Nismo Paint Issue/Questions

Hello,

I was hoping to get the communities thoughts on the paint issues in the pictures below. The last image is one that another user here posted awhile ago from when they picked up their car new. Some of the lines from the factory coverings match up incredibly well, especially on the front fenders where it flows from the hood. I don't have pictures attached of that, however I'll try and update this thread tomorrow with more. I'm not saying this is the cause, just that I haven't ruled it out.

I bought the car about a year ago (used) and unfortunately, noticed this only sometime after taking her home (Lesson learned). During the day, it's barely noticeable unless you're looking for it, however under artificial light, like in the pictures, it's pretty obvious.

The dealer claims that the car had graphics on it before, but I'm not entirely convinced as the lines don't make sense to me.

I've tried claybar/polishing/waxing, but I haven't had any luck. I was wondering what you guys would describe the damage as and if you had any recommendations. I plan to get it fixed regardless ( it's really gnawing at me ) this spring, but would be nice to know what I'm up against.

All of the discoloration is symmetric, including the A-pillar (driver and passenger). I'll also note that that A-pillar red color seems to match the front bumper as well. I can't find any record of any collision on this car and I don't think that would explain the A-pillars anyway. I'm mostly concerned with the lines in the body panels, such on the trunk.

Thanks for reading.

Looks like you have the dreaded paint fade:

There is already another thread on it with a similar member that had a red car and he was able to get a bodyshop to fix it:

My Z looks strikingly similar. I'm gonna try that quick wax and if that doesn't work. I'm looking into a new paint job after I get my CF hatch

Waizzz,

Thanks for moving this thread to the proper place. I had searched but I didn't come accross that thread, thank you for sharing.

j3tt2,

Do you have the lines in the paint or just the two tones?

No problem, I remember the older thread and if you notice both you and the OP of that thread have Red cars

Honestly, take it to a trusted detailer or bodyshop and have them take look for second opinion
