Alright!! Well this is the first real problem that this Z has ever had. It started last night when I was driving and all of a sudden the Low Tire Pressure light started flashing then after about 10 seconds the light stayed "on". Now every time I start the car the light does the same thing, flashes then stays on. Now when I select the PSI screen on the Multi read out screen it shows that one of my rear tires is not sending or receiving the tire pressure.

So today I took it to Orr Nissan and they wanted to $137 just to diagnose the problem, after a talk with one of the employees he referred me to a local place and they checked each sensor for FREE. After scanning each one, all four of the sensors work 100%.

So my question to all the older Z'ers is what's the next step to resolving this issue? I found a used 2006 BCM in very good working condition for $138 but how do I know that the BCM is failing??

 

I know I'm not the only one with this issue!?!?

I recently had this problem happen for the 6th or 7th time. The first time it occurred was the day after I bought the car in 2007. Since then Nissan and my local auto guy have recalibrated the sensors many times. Once a sensor was replaced. Today I was told by my auto guy that the sensors in the tires are fine and the problem is somewhere else in the sensor system with diagnosis only possible using tools Nissan dealers have in their possession. Needless to say, I am hesitant to bring the car to Nissan, spend $137 for a diagnosis plus additional monies for a new part plus labor, and then have the problem pop up again in 6 months. I love this car and this is the only complaint I have about it. At this point I think the solution is to get used to the sensor light blinking and staying on and periodically check tire pressure with my trusty reliable digital tire gauge. I do this with my 2004 Honda CR-V and did it with every car I owned up until my purchase of the Z. Good luck with your problem. Your only recourse is to go to Nissan and hope that the damn problem doesn't reappear again.
