Fixed the infamous rear clunk / knock using the spacer!!!
Finally,
I got around to finding the PVC tubing to make the custom spacer to stop the infamous 350z rear clunk. Found it at Lowes, 1/2 inch inner diameter and 5/8 outer diameter. I cut the pieces right in the store around 3/16th of an inch long each.
I had a local shop do the work for $130 bucks for an "hour" of time. It literally took fifteen minutes. You do need a second jack to get the wheel up to reconnect the shock.
To lubricate the top bushings I just used a "magnetic" auto spray lubricant and fired it down into the holes in the strut bar. I used my Iphone to shine light so I could aim the spray. Since the spray is awful smelling, I used duck tape to seal over those factory holes after. I also padded the area with some inexpensive cloths to maybe dull a little bit of road sound without adding weight or taking away too much sound.
Thank you to the original discoverers of this fix!!! You Sirs helped me to enjoy my car again

A little more info. The exact part is Item #220246 Model #PPW512 It came in 5 foot or 10 foot.
Its just amazing that with all of the cars going back to Nissan for this sound that they never could figure it out. Unreal. Such a simple fix and luckily a member on this site was able to help us.

The last thing I could do is fill the cavity in the strut bar with expanding foam. Something with a low density per square foot. But I like the regular road noise, helps me feel connected to the road. Now that there is no clunk there really is no need for the expanding foam.
