Squeaking problem, PLEASE HELP!
Good afternoon all,
I really need help on an issue that I've been having on my '03 350z Touring Edition. Ever since I got this car, there has been a squeaking noise coming from the engine bay from when I first start it up. It lasts for about 10-13 seconds as I've timed on an average. I also noticed that very rarely, when I turn on my A/C, it gives a squeal as well, but lasts for only 2 seconds.
When I turn off my car after a 2-3 mile drive, I can start the car back up again with a squeal that lasts for half a second, or none at all. Is it my A/C belt or my timing belt?
The person I bought the car from says that the belt is brand new and would need some time to break in before the squeal would stop. But I've driven it for 2000 miles already with the same problem. Any help would be appreciated!

You don't have a timing belt; it's a chain. Now's probably a good time to get your belts replaced if you don't know the last time it was done. If you can't do it yourself, I think the dealer charges around $180 to do it for you. Good luck.
Congiirepair, the Nissan spec for new replacement belts is tighter than for a broken-in belt. This is because a new belt will wear in some and loose little tension as it breaks in. As these are new belts on your car and have now worn-in, they have lost too much tension. They just need to be tightened to the normal spec. (a 4 to 5 mm deflection with a 22 lb pressure mid span between the pulleys).

Thank you so much for the replies. I really appreciate it. I'm going to look up the terms for "deflection so that maybe I can do it myself. So I'm guessing I just need to tighten it then. Then again, thank you so much for the replies.
