Default How to fix turn signal not making noise

This worked for me last night. It first happened about 3 months ago, then happened again last night and I wouldn't get out of the car until I made it click again.

Put key in ignition
Turn the key to on but don't start car
turn on headlights
turn on turn signal
turn off headlights
turn off turnsignal
turn off key

If you now start the car, the turn signal should work (ie make noise). This is how I fixed mine at least and hopefully it works for you as well.

For some reason, the headlights are key. If you put the key in, turn to on, and try the turn signal, it won't make noise. *shrug*

I've still no idea why it decided to quit making noise (it was 100% functional otherwise), but this made it start again.

You're on to something. Just tried this and it worked. I'm still searching the threads for a definitive answer/solution to this annoyance. Thanks for your input.

It's been a couple of weeks and the advice given above seems to have taken care of the problem. I know your post is almost 5 years old, but it added value to my ownership experience. Thanks, HokieZ, wherever you are and whatever you're now driving.

Bump for working solution. No idea why, but it fixed my "click" as well.
