Exclamation Engine Will not run! sorta stumped

In need of a little help guys. my 04 Z is bone stock with about 187k miles!! this is my first REAL issue since i got her...so after work last night I took a drive to go play some billiards with a few friends. On the way there I was running with a GT-R (he was just toying around obviously...sounded amazing though) so as I was about to turn into the plaza doing a little over 60, my engine cut so much power I was pushed forward...so I let it roll in neutral to listen for anything abnormal..and it stalled out....IN THE TURNING LANE TO THE PLAZA..I checked everything the average guy could at the time(oil pressure, fuel pump still primes,no oil in resovoir, no water condensation on oil cap). it just wouldn't run..my engine will barely get to 1k..idle for half a second then die..i step on the gas it dies even quicker..the only thing i can imagine is water got in the tank via condensation from florida's near 100% humidity this entire week or when I washed my car it seeped past an improperly closed fuel cap which i highly doubt. we added some fuel last night with stp injector cleaner (desperate i guess) but now i heard of dry gas and ill be buying some soon...meanwhile i have my battery disconnected hoping an ECU reset will sort it out..

Has anyone ever had any similar experiences to this? i had to tow my car home this morning. we were out there for about 4 hours waiting on a tow truck driver that didnt catch a flat got in at about 5 this morning. not stressing YET as im hoping its something simple..maybe a fuel filter, spark plug change is about due sooner than i thought?*EDIT* So i just read that our fuel filters never need servicing so i can tick that off the list if that's true

Im not sure.. Im going to upload a video and show it to you guys. i just added dry gas and 3 more gallons of 93. If it was either of those sensors would it still run for a little, then shut off?

OKAY! so for those watching :P I just disconnected the MAF sensor and it worked!! somewhat...then i decided to check the throttly body which was prettyyyy dirty. Got some brake cleaner and got to work but I ended up moving the butterfly (battery still connected) so now it's in im guessing limp mode. she'll drive BUT cant pass 2.5k rpm...sooo im thinking what procedure should i go with next. did i fack anything up?

I don't think you ****ed anything up. I moved the butterfly while the battery was connected and nothing happened. maybe do all the pedal resets.

the smoke is excess fuel maybe?

So no progress for today, im guessing the MAF sensor needs to be replaced. So ill be limping up to my Uncles shop to get it professionally checked out

this is probably AMS or throttle body .. try to unhook the air inlet piping and spray some choke cleaner ..

my friend got the same issue .. he went to clean his car and they washed the engine for him and when he start it, he can only rev up to 1500rpm .. he cleaned the throttle body and it went ok

hmmm. I did give the throttle body a good cleaning...as for the air inlet i havent tried just yet. I ordered a new maf sensor and im currently waiting for it because once thats plugged out..The engine will run but only in limp mode. when maf is in, it runs for 5 seconds (hurts my heart to even bother start it right now) as for the air inlet ill give that a good cleaning. Thanks for the input bro!

Your MAF is dead. Replace it then reset the ECU and do a throttle plate position learn then. Perform a idle air volume learn.

I got the same problem. It did that for a few minutes until it just cranks and won't run at all. We checked plugs, coil packs, injectors, fuel pump crank sensors, Mafs, harness, etc. and all were good. Maybe you can try this too.

My Z was moved to another garage now which specializes in ECU and stuff and they've diagnosed that my ECU is dead but they're trying to rob me off with labor fee and other BS charges. I'm moving the car to another garage. The expert I spoke to recently said it could be the immobilizer module or whatever. I will keep you updated once he gets a good look at my ECU.

OP you have to scan your ECU and see what's up. Like the guys said here, it could be just the cam or crank sensor.

Got it fixed today! As soon as I got home and found my maf sensor in the mail, I got my new filter and went at it andd she started right up like nothin was even wrong. It idles at 1k now (used to be 800) and after a few minutes of idling she ran down the street and back just fine.
