Default What are symptoms that the Valve Cover needs to be completely replaced?

I'm kind of debating if I should buy a new Valve Cover or not. I bought some spark plugs and when I was taking out the old ones theyre was some oil around the hole. A mechanic told me I just have to buy new Valve Cover gaskets but reading online is making me think I need a new Valve Cover.

Opinions please.

On other vehicles, the valve cover o rings are a servicable item. However, on the VQ, the whole cover needs to be replaced as the o rings are sealed into the cover. If you find oil in any of the spark plug tubes, the cover should be replaced. Some cylinders leak more often than others. Search around to find out specific information. Good luck.

Good thing is that there are some vendors on this forum that can replace the O Rings without having to buy a new cover.
