Default Question. Is this possible..Dip Stick?

Hey guys, a few months ago I replaced my valve covers, after about a week I had a oil leak, I found it to be the gasket on the passenger side vpc valve. Replaced it no more leaks last week I noticed the smell of oil burning and there was no visible leaks under the car or from the top at eye view.

Two days ago, I noticed the oil pressure gauge maxed out at 120psi but doesn't budge. I read the forums and people said it could be the oil pressure switch.

I lifted the car yesterday and noticed oil on the headers and on the tray at the bottom and in other parts. but I couldn't find a source. so I placed a engine UV oil liquid to see it at night with a black light.

Well just now I checked, only saw a quarter size spot under the air intake tube on the header. I noticed the smallest bit on the dip stick funnel...
and no where else.

I did noticed alittle oil on the spark plug valve cover but it didn't have the uv thing on it and it was not running off of it on to the engine.

My question is.. is it possible that the rubber on the dip stick could go bad and needs to be replaced? has anyone ever heard of a thing?

thank you for your time

I've never heard of one going bad but it's possible. I've been driving for over a decade all mainly older cars and never ran into that issue nor heard of it.

Yeah I didnt think so either...

But I cant find this leak and I dont want to take it to nissan since last time they left a wrench on my transmission and one dealer said it was the head and another said it was something else this past summer, so they dont know either. i wish I lived in cali again there is so many memebrs that could help.

I cant afford spending money on this car.. I keep trying to take steps forward and I take like 10 back... I wjust placed 3k in new clutch, flywheel, valve cover, rear main seal, master cynoid, vpc gasket, and a plenum..

I been dying to put my nismo v3 front 06 head lights, ings side and charge speed rear now for 2 years its all just sitting... I been very close to just selling everything and the car but I have had it for 10 years now and love it even with the faded paint.

OP,

That oil under the intake on the header could be from the PCV valve hose that is attached on the under side of the intake tube that runs to the throttle body about half way down.

I'm sure you know that's there if you did the valve covers and such, but if not that hose runs around the back of the throttle body to the valve cover, and i googled "PCV valve oil leak" and there was some info on the 2 being related.

btw this is all based on my 04 Base 350z, I just remembered newer ones have dual TB and many other changes.

Hope you solved it already or this helps somehow.

Good Luck.

"A clogged or severely restricted PCV system prevents the engine from effectively purging its crankcase. When this happens, blow-by vapors accumulate inside the engine. This aggravates sludge formation.

Eventually, these unwanted gases also pressurize the crankcase so much that they force oil out of various seals and gaskets.

Unless you repair the PCV system, this excessive pressure will continue causing leaks."

I was bored so I searched some more, its not vehicle specific but I think this is a principal thing that goes for all engines.

the above is quoted from here - http://www.tirebusiness.com/article/...ause-oil-leaks

but there's a lot of useless reading so I don't recommend reading it just look into the VQ PCV system find your PCV valve and inspect, hopefully its that simple.
