350z fuel
Ok does anyone here know why my fuel gauge acting crazy.so fill up my gas tank for about 10 gal and the fuel came out of the gas tank.but before i refuel my fuel gauge indacate that its almost empty.now my gauge needle is not even on F level.why pls explain
im having the same issue. problem started after i changed the fuel pump for a walbro. it fills to about 3/4 or 12 gallons. before it would go to a little past full. ive tried different pumps, flipping the nozzle upside down, "just the tip" trick, and even pushing it in and holding up. Nothing seems to work, but i havent opened up the tank yet.
I have had this for awhile and I was below E and put 14.3 gallons in and sometimes it is at the F and others it shows like 3/4. So I really have no idea what my gas is really at. This happens all throughout the gauge. Not just when I fill up either.
This fuel tank issue has been a known problem for about 10 years. I believe the problem stems from the "saddle" tank design of the Z. The fuel sometimes will not flow to the other side of the tank so when filling, the tank appears to be full when it is only half full. If you can find a gas station where the pumps are level, you don't have as much of a problem. Here is a drawing of the tank and I think you will see what I mean.

I agree I also only put in 15 at the most. Although I don't run it down all the way perhaps 1/4th
What I can do is run it down to almost near empty and see how many gallons it takes to fill.
