Default Headlight beam problem.

Here's the deal.I've got a '04 base model which has the halogen bulbs and not the HID. I've been noticing my headlights were very dim and not that useful at night, so much that my girlfriend always tells me to put on highbeams whenever its night. It seemed the left beam was good but the right beam had a crazy pattern that would shoot off in blotches. I bought some new h7s and installed them today. The light is much whiter and seems to be brighter but has a terrible pattern shined on the wall, you can see the outline of the light on the wall. I took it for a test drive and couldn't see anything, like having the lights off. Can anyone shed some light(pun intended)? Was i a dumbass and installed them upside down or something like that? if so why was the old light crazy? Is this an adjustment issue? I took a before and after shot.

Check out the pics in the link below, sorry imgur is the only way i know to share pics.

Are they OEM housings, or something aftermarket?

Everything is OEM apart from the bulbs, which are standard h7 halogens.
