Default 350z oil guage bouncy after new sensor installed ?

So I just recently replaced the oil pressure sensor and my oil guage will read properly most of the time but will sometimes get stuck or shoot to 120 psi unless I smack it with my hand . Has any one experienced this and is there a way to remove the guage and tighten the needle or fix this some how ? Thanks
Also the volt and multi guage are working perfectly fine .

sounds like a wire is loose at the sensor. When the gauge pegs to 120 it is because it is not getting a voltage signal from the sensor.

Really ? That makes sense but I did infact check out the male end and all checked out well when connecting to the sensor . If that's not the problem is maybe the needle loose or somthing ?

Maybe you needed to change the gauge cluster instead of the sensor.

What was your original problem that prompted you to change the sensor?

Gauge is probably on a stepper motor...not really many ways to cause it to fail besides a loose connection. very accurate positioning.

So when I pull the gauge what do I do or look for ? I'll take pics while I'm doing t to help anyone else out ... Btw sprayed some electrical connection cleaner on the sensor plug to clean it out and will report. All later after driving around to see what happens

Are you using new OEM parts or aftermarket? If you have to smack it with your hand to get it to work, then yes, you probably need a new gauge. Before you buy one though, test test the voltages at the sending unit and compare them to the known good readings listed in the troubleshooting guide of the FSM to see if that's where the problem is.

Mope? Dude I don't know what I'm looking for or have to fix ? I know it only takes 4.79 seconds to take apart , but what's the point if I don't know what's going to need fixing ? Durrrrrrrrrrrr

if you have to hit the gauge in order to work. Then stop looking 80% of a chance is that you need a new gauge.

I doubt anyone has taken the gauge apart to fix it so youre not going to get much help. you may have to *gasp* do it all by yourself.

so yes, stop moping ariund and expecting the forum to provide you with a diy fix it guide.

Guess your right , I wasn't " moping " I was just curious whether or not some one has taken them completely apart and what part in the gauge might be at fault . Nothing crazy girls .

Mine bounces around and sometimes sits at 0, then tap it and it goes straight for a second
