Default Used vq35de

Well, i bought a used vq35de engine on this forum a few months ago, just got around checking it out now, had to have it shipped to Iceland and more, it has 90k miles on it, suppose to be in great working order and never been boosted

But the point in this thread is i want to know, what things should i check before i put it into the car to verify that it is in good working order, all i have checked so far is that it spins and is not stuck and what are these engines good for? did i make a mistake buying a engine with 90k miles on it? i have heard numbers from 100-300k miles

Sorry hope you understand me, english not my first language, icelandic is

Dont want to have it fail on me when it goes into the car, so want to know what i should look/check for

1 x 350z/G35 Thermostat and Housing
4 x Exhaust Manifold Stud ( lost 4 )
2 x Lower Intake Gasket
1 x Upper Plenum Gasket
1 x VQ35DE Lower to Middle Plenum Gasket
1 x Throttle Body Gasket
1 x NISMO Oil Filter
1 x OEM Head Gasket
1 x OEM Rear Main Seal & Retainer VQ35DE

Thats my order so far, anything else someone would add to that?

That's iffy w the mileage, I would've just got new or rebuild. But do compression test. Good luck w it

Unfortunly i did not have much choice about that, like i said, shipping + taxes alone was well over 2000 dollars, and thats not counting the shipping from the guy to the frieght company that shippes to Iceland,

But i bought it from a Premium member here tkrizzy, and everything should be fine, what is the weakest point for the vq35de?

Check compression, replace major gaskets/seals while its out of the car (to include head gaskets), new spark plugs, maybe a new t-stat/water pump. Should be good to go. Assuming compressing is good and you knock out all that stuff it should last awhile!

Yes just ordered gaskets for the major parts of the engine and spark plugs, used the water pump from my old engine which had 40.000 miles on it

Maybe rear/front main seal
I'm paranoid and would rather knock out a bunch of the difficult stuff while its out of the car just in case it goes bad in the car. But that's just me.
