Default 350Z reving to 3K RPM before moving

I recently changed the belts on my 2004 350Z with orthodox pulleys. Everything ran fine before and even replaced belts looked okay. Just wanted to put new ones on since I have 125K.

The issue I seem to notice now though is that the Z revs up to 3K RPM before the odometer even starts to move. This is really noticeable only because I have pretty loud exhaust. Wasn't like this before so what are possible things that are causing this. Again only the belts were changed. It's especially annoying when I'm just reversing and my engine revs up to 3-4K before I even start moving...

So it's not issues with my fluids either. Both tranny and diff are full cuz when I open the fill plug, it's pouring out.

Can't see how this could be the belt. I'm reading possibly the cluth? Anyone with this experience?

if it is a standard.... get a rolling start in 3rd or 4th and floor it, if the rpms jump and you barely go up in speed, get ready to do a clutch

If it wasn't happening AT ALL before the belt change then after install it did it I would maybe go back and look at pulleys and belts. I agree with clutch slip however that happens over time not just instant sudden. Now if you didn't notice it before and you got some new pulleys and tested how much "faster" your car is doing burn outs and slamming gears then yes burnt clutch

I would think the clutch is on it's way out. Just happens to be after the pulleys were swapped.

Yeah and just to clarify, only belts were swapped. Already had the pulleys on there. Once the car starts moving the gears do seem to shift okay.
