Unhappy p0420, need advice.

Hey guys and girls. I was driving my car yesterday. And my CEL came on. I got the code read, abd it ended up being p0420. I've done some research, and a whole lot of options. Can anyone help me narrow it down?

It's an 05, no test pipes. Stock cats. Would I just need to replace the cat?

either the cat or the sensor. try swapping the sensors left to right and seeing if the code stays the same

You have two sensors. Swap them from side to side and see if the code stays the same

I would reset it first and see if it comes back. It may have been a fluke like the p0420 I had in my old car. I cleared it twice then it never came back again in 3 years.

or just replace the o2 sensors, they arent that expensive. stock cats will be expensive, if they are bad replace with high flow cats or test pipes with the bungs

From my experience the issue was the cat. I think it was very dirty or possibly clogged. Not sure what my mechanic did but fixed the issue

How much are the o2? Abd he probably gutted the cat. I had an rx8 and I gutted the cat cuz it was losing power, after that never had an issue with power loss. And what high flow cat is good? But I'll clear the code to see if it comes back.

FYI, if your O2 sensor says you have a bad cat, chances are very good that the sensor is working just fine.

I reset the code driving the car right now it's been 26 miles since it was rest. Nothing yet. Another question. My clutch gets stuck half way, and I know that these clutches suck big donkey ones. But what can I do to resolve this problem?
