Uncontrolled revs on startup
Had a bit of an adventure with my car today. It's been sitting under its cover all winter in the driveway and the battery was very dead when I checked it today; put the battery charger on this morning and went out to fire it up in the afternoon. Started immediately, but instantly went WOT and hit the rev limiter. I shut it down, kicked the throttle pedal a few times in case something was sticking, and tried again with the same result. Nothing obvious amiss under the hood, and the pedal seems to be moving normally. Tried a third time, no different. Any ideas? I suppose I could try whacking the throttle body to see if it's stuck open. After that I'm concerned it's a connection issue.
FYI: 2005 Touring with Uprev tune. No previous issues of any sort with engine control.

Update: On advice of my mechanic son, I have a) taken off the intake to make check if the valve was closed with the engine off (it is). While I was at it I made sure the valve would move when opened manually and that the spring was intact. b) Unclipped the wiring connector at the throttle body and tried starting again. Car would start (at normal rpm's) briefly then quit. c) Same process unclipping the harness at the pedal. Same result.
His next suggestion is to unhook the intake again and turn the ignition to "on" without starting and see if the throttle valve opens.
I have Uprev Cipher; not sure if I can datalog live with the ignition without starting the car to see what the tps is reading compared to what the valve is actually doing. That was his next suggestion.
Very interested in any other suggestions.
