Engine Codes P0300 & P1487 then P0340
I have a 2003 MT Touring with mods from a previous owner with 59k on it. I have been having some clutch issues to due a leaky front seal so sometimes the clutch grab point changes and I stall it. Well, I was at a stop on an incline and I went to go and the car started to stall, so I immediately push in the clutch and give it a little gas and it revives the engine but caused what seemed like a mini backfire then it totally stalled. I turn it over and after about 5 seconds it starts but with the check engine light on (never came on before when it stalled) and the slip and VDC lights on. Car drove home fine.
In the morning I checked the code and it was P0300 for random misfires and P1487 which i believe is EGR related but the Z don't even have an EGR. Strange? So I cleared the code using the clear function on the reader. I drive to work and it stalls. Takes about 10 seconds of turning over to start, same lights come on. I took the reader with me so at lunch I check and now it reads only P0340 which is camshaft sensor, again I clear the code and have no issues when driving to lunch. Ride home and pop the P0300 & P1487 again with all three lights but no P0340. Only this time I notice the cooling fans come on but I notice no raise in temp. This is the first time the fans have come on that I know of besides when turning on the AC. So I drive it one more time about 15 miles with no issues but when I get back in the car it won't start. Turns over n over n over. Finally after approx 10 min it starts and I drive home with no issues but the fans turn back on.
I've done a little reading tonight. My question is should I go straight to changing both camshaft sensors and while at it the crankshaft sensor or should I tackle chasing the P0300 code? Any ideas on why an EGR related code would be thrown?
Any help or serious opinions would be great! Thanks in advance.
