Knock Sensor question
Hey, I'm in the market for a new knock sensor::: I was wondering if anyone has feedback or has used non oem knock sensors (autozone/advanced auto)
I had an issue w mine not long ago and did some research. Ad auto has and uses the same exact one as the dealership. The dealerships actually get them from auto zone etc (from what I was told). I noticed it having the same lettering and markings when I swapped my oem. Def wouldn't gO to the stealer-ship for that part.
I'd definitely change out the harness as well while you're in there as I did the work twice. The ecu read the harness code after I replaced KS...what a biatch but ended up fine in the end.

Thanks for the response.. Where did you pick up the sub-harness from? I notice z1 sells
Yes, z1...
And the z1 harness looks and feels way more durable than the oem one. Not sure what they did but it seems better.
I didn't swap mine out and still have the oem harness in. I had z1's on the way but was impatient, so I tore things apart waiting for the z1 harness to arrvive the next day. Then I noticed the connection was loose and have NO idea how thst happened. I unbolted where they connect behind the motor, made sure connection was well, mounted nicely, and went for a test ride. It ended up being perfectly fine as I inspected the harness while it was out. The z1 harness came in the next day and I just kept it so she's now sitting for a spare just in case. GL
