Hey guys, I was driving home the other day and ran over a large block of wood sitting in the middle of the road. At first I thought I mangled my exhaust but I actually bent the crap out of the mid crossmember. Is this something I can take off and bang it straight, or will it need replacing? Money is tight at the moment so any info would help, thanks.

 

Wow sorry to hear that, but you should be able to straighten it out pretty good but I would replace it when you get a chance cause it just looks pretty bad.

 

i personally wouldn't mess with it... but if you are ocd and want it fixed... take it off and put a 2x4 or 4x4 on it and whack it with a sledge hammer

 

I don't want to mess with it but it was pushed up against my exhaust pipe and the noise is horrible, I'll try to straighten it tomorrow and post an update, if anyone else has any tips feel free to share

 

Mine is a little bent up from a previous owner. I plan on just buying a used replacement. They aren't that much.

 

Take it off. Bang it straight. Buy another if you want.

Turns out its an easy fix, just took it off and stood on it

 

When I need to flatten metal, I sandwich it between two pieces of plywood and put the weight of my van on it.
