I have a fee questions about maintenance and stuff about my new Z
Hi I just got my z and I have a few questions on some stuff I was wondering about... first oil change... I have to change the oil in like 800 miles and I don't know what kind I should put in... I mean I have conventional 5w-30 in it right now.. but I was wondering if I should put a higher weight I live on the east coast and I will not drive the car in the winter so...and should I use synthetic or a synthetic blend? I am definitely not using conventional the last owner putit in there... My other question is my tire pressure light comes on when I am on the highway... I am going like 75 for about 10 miles and then the light comes on but only when I am on the highway... I don't know if it because the tires heat up causing the pressure to register higher but it has the correct amount of air...so ya those are my questions appreciate any answers!!!

5w30 will work fine, you don't live in a hot climate.
You probably have a TPMS sensor going bad , one of mine does the same, but check your tires and make sure the pressure is correct

Welcome- you should examine this site a little closer, as there's a wealth of information here. That includes a thread on used oil analysis (UOA) for the VQ that includes solid recommendations on oils that work very well in our engines. Here's a link to that thread:

You can thank the previous posters on that thread for their contributions and perform a few UOAs of your own to contribute to this community.

Everything depends on how far you're willing to go to take care of your car and what you plan on doing with you Z. I use mobil 1 extended performance full synthetic 5W-30 from walmart (because its fantastic oil for dirt cheap) and then i pick up a mobil 1 oil filter from your local parts store. Just follow the owner's manual. Also, stick with 5W-30 since you live in the Northeast like me and have to deal with cold temperatures. I use 5W-30 all year round. Also, when the TPMS light comes on, it means that your computer is getting an improper reading or is not getting a reading from your TP sensor at all after a set amount of miles driven under one cycle. Mine turns on every time because my konig wheels aren't equipped with TPMS. In conclusion, if your TPMS light comes on, your sensor(s) went bad or dont have them equipped at all like me

These TPMS sensors are a pita if you can live without them just get you a good tire gauge and check your tire pressure routinely, in the long run they will cost you a lot of money to maintain them every time they go bad, they generally run about 35.00 to 45.00 a piece + finding a reputable tire company that will fairly install them without giving you a ripoff price. If one goes bad generally another one is soon to follow so if you are going to attempt to keep up with this probably should buy by 2's or all 4 keep and date when you install them to keep a ideal how long they are lasting and then you can decide if it's worth spending the money on constant replacement also quality of the TPMS sensor might make somewhat of a difference GL!!
